Juan DeCastro steps up as chair of literature

The Department of Literary Studies welcomes Juan De Castro as co-chair, Literary Studies and Chair, Literature. Juan De Castro is the author of The Spaces of Latin American Literature: Tradition, Globalization and Cultural Production (Palgrave 2008), Mario Vargas Llosa: Public Intellectual in Neoliberal Latin America (University of Arizona Press 2011), and edited Vargas Llosa and Latin American Politics, with Nicholas Birns, (Palgrave 2010) and Critical Insights: Mario Vargas Llosa (2014). He takes over from Carolyn Vellenga Berman, who was co-chair of the department for 3 years. Juane De Castro has been in the Literary Studies Department since 2003.
